Analysis of the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting

Greg over at Active Response Training has an excellent article about the Sandy Hook Attack. This is not a simple article to just read and be done. Analyze it. There are multiple points to look at, especially if you are responsible for peoples security. I am going to call out the Church Safety Teams here. You should look at this article and adjust your plans and what to look for accordingly. Some points to look at: The attacker knew the building. So he was not a total unknown. (Could a prior or current member have the knowledge of plans and layout?) The doors were locked. He just shot out a window and walked through. There are others and please give both the article and the report a read.

Pepper Spray

I will preface this with: I sell defensive spray and pepper spray. There are different brands out there and I only sell one brand. Sabre. In my opinion it is the best out there and is the most effective. It is a cheap easily used threat deterrent. It can be more effective on animals than trying to hit a small moving target shooting at them with a firearm. It vastly expands your options. In classes I refer to it as a bridge between strong words and a firearm. There is a wide space between the two that you need to figure out what warrants lethal force and what does not. This provides a less than lethal tool that is much much stronger than your words. Check out the article Here . It is from a shooters perspective and there are links and citations to other trainers that advocate the use of defensive spray.

DOT TORTURE!!!!

This is one of my favorite drills. It is HARD. This drill will show the excellent shooters from the just good or the ones that think they are better than they are. It takes concentration and time to work up the drill. Print it out and take it to the range. Best tip I can give you on this one is to take your time and start close.
